Homework Bags / Reading books

Hi there

As a precursor to the start of homework on Friday, I have sent the homework packs home today (Tuesday).  The children should all have their reading book in the bag and can read up to, but not past where they have read to in class.

Best regards

Mr Blair

Sports Relief Day and more at MOL!

Apologies, this post was submitted on Friday but due to a technical hitch did not appear – second time lucky!

Well here we are at the end of yet another high-octane, rip-roaring week at MOL! Primary 6 were enthusiastic participants in all activities. The day started off with Zumba for most of the school (or swimming for a select few), followed by a cross-class football tournament, the winners of which will get the opportunity to take on a mighty staff team. Another hugely popular activity was a craft workshop held at lunchtime – great fun was had by all! Of course it was all for a fantastic cause and we’re sure that the school will once again do itself proud, raising money for charity! The downside for the male staff to this incredible effort is that if funds raised beat those from Children in Need, we have to have our legs waxed (cue some very nervous looking male staff!)!

Now we will look forward to next week, which as usual promises to be very busy indeed! Thursday sees the Enterprising Eco Extravaganza Open Afternoon (from 1:45 – 2:45) – another exciting and fun event which also has a positive eco message for us all! We’re also looking forward to seeing and playing all the maths games the pupils will be bring in next week – remember they can come in from Monday if they are finished!

Finally congratulations to recent winners of the headteachers awards Craig, Rachel and Shane and to recent winners of the Pupil’s Pupil awards Megan, Michael and Melissa!

Have a great weekend everyone!

HAve a great weekend everybody – there’s only one week to go!!

Reminder – Wednesday is Eco Fashion Day!

Further to my recent post, this is a quick reminder to bring in items tomorrow so you can design an Eco fashion outfit for me to model on the MOL catwalk! Old clothes or hats, cardboard boxes, colourful material, whatever you think will help Primary 5 produce the best outfit!

Landmark Photographs

On Thursday the whole school descended on Landmark! Primary 5 had a great day out and I was told that they stood out as being brilliantly well behaved and willing to give things a go – well done everyone! The following pictures demonstrate this happy and enthusiastic class!

Next Week!

Next week is yet another busy and entertaining one, with Sports Day on Tuesday followed by an Eco Fashion show on Wednesday!

The Eco Fashion Show involves making an outfit (or possibly outfits) in the morning, which will be modelled by your teacher(!!) in the afternoon! Outfits must be made from RECYCED items and be CREATIVE. Please bring in any suitable items by Wednesday. These items should be ones that you do not mind being recycled into wonderful creations for me to parade around the catwalk in!

Top quality presentations!

Well the first collection of news bulletins have been presented by pupils of the class and it is safe to say the standard is very high indeed. We have been treated to presentations covering a wide range of complex news topics from measles outbreaks in Wales, the conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan, English local elections, the discovery of the three abducted women discovered after 10 years in America, the Boston bombings, the vote for Scottish independence, the tornado in Oklahoma, the collapse of the clothing factory in Bangladesh, the Mayon volcano erupting in the Philippines, the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson as well as many others and we’re still not finished! The pupils so far have used an impressive range of props ranging from Powerpoint presentations with sound and videoclips, costumes, puppets, models, experiments and lots of quizzes. Marking them hasn’t been easy but I’m delighted to have been given such a difficult job. A huge well done to everyone who has already taken part and I’m really looking forward to seeing how everyone else gets on!

Have a great weekend everyone – enjoy the lack of homework!! 😀
